Lose Weight Automatically

Posted by Judith

istock_000004428979xsmall I remember when I was slim and fit, and stayed that way. When did I change? When did I start focusing on my mouth? Whether I open it too often, or not enough? When did I start overeating, or worrying that I was sending my body into starvation mode? Enough already.

It’s time to stop obsessing about my weight. I’m going to learn how to eat healthy and then FORGET about it! I want diet and weight loss worries OUT of my head … and OFF my waist and hips.

I’m reading You: On A Diet: The Owner’s Manual for Waist Management by Drs. Michael Roizen and Mehmet Oz. It promises an automatic way of eating and living.

You: On A Diet shares the facts about waist loss, and why waist size is a key measurement. “For optimum health, the ideal waist size for women is 32.5 inches. For men, the ideal is 35 inches.” The book helps dispel the myths that linger as though they were facts. I’ll share more of these facts in future posts.

Let’s start with a small goal. A 10% weight loss has a huge impact. It shows on your face and body. Your clothes are not as tight; people notice and make wonderful comments. So my initial goal is to weigh 10% less in 6 weeks.

How will I do it? I’ll make a three basic changes. To start the day by meditating 10 minutes. When my head is right, everything is better. Stretch and walk 30 minutes. Last, I’ll increase fiber by adding more fruits and veggies to every meal.

What do you say? Are you ready to lose a few extra pounds? I hope you’ll join me. Despite rumors to the contrary, it should be fun.

  2. Judith Said,

    Hi Marjie,

Congratulations! What awesome progress you’ve made. Perhaps you can share more about your Calorie Restricted lifestyle here. I like your website. Thanks for sharing your comments!

  3. Dr. Sally Witt Said,

    Judith,

My cardiologist LOVES the “You on a Diet” Series. I bought all the DVD’s and books on Amazon.com and through Ebay right away after my visit.

Dr. Roizen is cute and gentle and has a great personality. He really shows you graphically what you need to know for your motivation to make permanent changes in your life.

I have been integrating the principles a bit at a time, and have lost 37 pounds slowly and permanently. I won’t type here how many more i have to go!

Thank you for your beautiful blog. I look forward to reading more and seeing additional information. I also look forward to the day that you are interviewed on my radio show!

    Thank you!

  4. Katherine Reschke Said,

I am so ready to lose weight. The piece I really need to tackle is the emotional eating which accounts for pretty much all of the extra calories that I am eating. I really like the 10% goal.

  5. Judith Said,

Hi Katherine, I thought about you last evening as I listened to E. Tolle and Oprah discuss emotional eating. Were you able to see the show? Ref: Chapter 3 — The Core of Ego — from A New Earth. From my notes:

In response to a question about over-eating and emotional eating, Eckhart Tolle said that the ego lives in a constant state of *not enough.* He suggested that much over-eating is about the ego. He indicated that to eat consciously is the way out of the emotional state.

We may have our goodies of choice, but we should eat them fully and consciously. We must be present in the eating. Make it a meditation. Then, once you’re finished, ask your body what it wants. Listen to it consciously. Tolle suggested that addictions are largely unconsciousness. Our goal is to be fully conscious when we eat. We want to be present.

See pages 78-79. What do you think? Did anyone interpret this differently? I’d love to hear your take on this. Leave a comment with your thoughts. Thank you!

  6. Katherine Reschke Said,

The synchonicity of this amazes me (though it shouldn’t, knowing what I do about Law of Attraction.)

I am following 4 rules for my eating - 1. I eat when I am physically hungry. 2. I eat exactly what I want. 3. I eat conciously (slowly and without distractions) 4. I stop when I am full (see http://mckenna.com/ for more details)

When I eat I do turn eating into my meditation, my time to be fully present. The wonderful thing about eating is as we dont have as many words attached to taste so they dont get in the way as much as they do when we see things. So I can notice all the different tastes which fill my mouth, how they change notes.

I enjoy eating this way though my mind(my ego) rebels and tries to seek other stimuli so I have to put away cereal boxes or I will start reading them. I eat far less, and have less cravings for food, My stomach feels happier when it is in control of how much I eat and doesn’t try to overfill itself - it’s my mind(my ego) that does that to my poor body.

  7. Judith Said,

Great comments Katherine! I like the four rules. I’ll follow up on McKenna’s site and post about it. Thanks for the wonderful value you added here. :)

  8. Gary Leggett Said,

    Hello Judith,

I like McKenna also. I followed a teacher of his for awhile. I work with weight loss clients myself and over the years and have found people can have different reason for overeating.

Raw Food is coming along and I have seen it first hand do incredible things. Also I work with a publishing company sometimes near my home and their top seller right now out of 300 titles is a Raw Food Book.

I have a youtube video on my site that is under one of the weight loss posts I believe on Raw Food. It’s really more interesting than it sounds :)
